Memorials at St Aldhelms Church, Belchalwell
The Great War A war memorial of Ham Hill stone and white marble is set in the North wall of the Aisle. This was subscribed for by parishoners, to the memory of Harry Malphus John Mitchem William Mitchem Benjamin Rose Tom Rose Arthur Spencer Who fell in the Great War. The design was by the rector, Lionel S Plowman, and was made by Messrs. Norman of Blandford. It was dedicated at a special service on the 20th January, 1920, by the Venerable Archdeacon of Dorset.
Benjamin Rose and Tom Rose were brothers in the Royal Navy, and went down with The Good Hope, which was sunk about 50 miles off Coronel, Chile, in 1914.
