Lost Buildings - Morphus Cottage

Taken c.1950, these remains are of a cottage now lost from the village we refer to as 'Morphus Cottage', after the first recorded owner, Job Morphus, shown on the Tithe Map (record 62). The cottage lay between The Cross and Lowbrook Farm Cottage, just south of the tight bends, where the gateway to the bonfire field is now situated. This looks a very small area of land for a property, but remember roads and indeed hedges move over time.
An Ibberton resident recalls the building was fully demolished and no longer visible by 1957.
Unknown, donated by Jack Yeatman.
